Supervision & visibility

Control how much your assistant acts autonomously and how you stay in the loop on outbound communications.

Two controls, one goal

Your assistant sends emails, coordinates meetings, and communicates with people on your behalf. Two settings let you control how much it does on its own and how visible you are when it does:

  • Supervision mode — how much autonomy your assistant has
  • Visibility — whether you're CC'd or BCC'd on outbound messages

Both are in Preferences → Assistant.

Supervision mode

ModeWhat it means
SupervisedYour assistant asks for your approval before taking any action that affects others. Maximum control, more interruptions.
Semi-supervisedYour assistant uses judgment. It handles routine actions on its own (confirming receipt, sharing availability) and brings you in for anything significant. This is the default for most users.
UnsupervisedYour assistant acts autonomously within the scope you've given it. It uses the dispatch cart for approvals where required, but otherwise proceeds without checking in.

Most users run semi-supervised. Supervised makes sense if you're new to the platform and want to understand how your assistant works before letting it run freely. Unsupervised suits experienced users who trust their assistant with a well-defined scope of work.

Supervision mode doesn't affect the dispatch cart — that's a separate approval layer. Even in unsupervised mode, emails and calendar events go through the cart and require your sign-off.

Visibility

When your assistant sends an email on your behalf, should you be on it?

SettingWhat it means
CCYou're added as a CC recipient. The contact can see your address on the thread.
BCCYou receive a copy, but you're hidden from the contact. The thread stays cleaner, and the contact doesn't see your address.

Visibility applies to all outbound messages your assistant sends: scheduling emails, follow-ups, replies to contacts, and inter-assistant coordination messages when two assistants coordinate a meeting on behalf of their respective users.

If you're running unsupervised and don't want to receive copies of routine outbound messages, you can turn visibility off entirely. Your assistant will still log everything to the task, so you can review what was sent at any time.

Standing permissions

You can give your assistant standing approval for specific recurring situations via saved memories. For example:

  • "If Justin wants to reschedule a meeting, go ahead without asking me first."
  • "Always accept meeting requests from the executive team without checking."
  • "Never book before 9am."

Your assistant treats memories as policy. Standing permissions reduce interruptions for situations you've already thought through, without changing your overall supervision mode.

To save a standing permission, just tell your assistant in conversation: "Remember that..." or "From now on, whenever...". It will save the preference and apply it on future runs.
